Introduction


This Privacy Policy Statement summarizes the obligations of PACIFIC BANGLADESH TELECOM LIMITED ("PBTL") and your rights in relation to the personal data held by PBTL.

Privacy Obligations

PBTL shall comply with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance to the fullest extent.

Purpose for Collection of Personal Data

PBTL will collect your personal data for the following purposes:
 

  • for the provision of PBTL's services and facilities to you;
  • for carrying out your instructions or responding to your enquiry;
  • for account management, telephony services, credit, financial or any other related services, whether those services are implemented by PBTL or by a third party;
  • for assessing your credit worthiness;
  • for determining the amount of indebtedness owed to or by you;
  • for credit management including collection of amount outstanding from you;
  • for designing further products and services for you and marketing such PBTL's products or services;
  • for forming part of customer data base necessary for the operation carried on by PBTL;
  • for observing any legal, governmental or regulatory requirements of Bangaldesh or other relevant jurisdiction including any disclosure or notification requirements to which PBTL or other class of data recipient, are subject; and/or
  • for any purposes related to and/or for the furtherance of any of the above.


Collection of Personal Data

All personal data will be collected on a voluntary, open and fair basis. Whilst you are entitled to refuse to provide any of the personal data, incomplete disclosure may prevent PBTL from rendering first class service to you as a valued customer of PBTL.

Accuracy

PBTL will take all practicable steps to ensure that the personal data so collected are accurate. However, your efforts to provide accurate personal data upon subscription or application of PBTL's services and thereafter to update PBTL of any change of your personal data are always welcome.

Access and Correction

You have the right to know (i) the privacy policy of PBTL, (ii) whether PBTL holds any of your personal data; and (iii) the kind of personal data being held by PBTL. You also have the right to request for correction of your personal data held by PBTL at any time.

Security

All personal data are stored in a secure place and/or system to the extent that any unauthorized access is strictly prohibited.

Transfer and Disclosure

Unless PBTL hears from you to the contrary upon subscription or application of any of PBTL's services, your personal data will be transferred and/or disclosed to:-
(a) employees and officers of PBTL;
(b) associated companies of PBTL's group of companies;
(c) contractors/sub-contractors, business partners and agents of PBTL; and/or
(d) credit reference agencies of PBTL.

Archives

The personal data will be archived by PBTL after termination of services or facilities as soon as it is reasonably practicable to do so but in any event not more than 5 years after its termination.

PBTL may contact you from time to time with a view to providing the latest information on products and services. If you do not wish to receive these updates, please notify PBTL in advance by calling our 24 hour Helpline: 121 (from Citycell phone) or  011 99 121 121 (from other numbers). In either case, please specify your name and mobile number.
